Ingredients: Shampoos & Conditioners
Shampoos – Avoid shampoos that list the following ingredients on their label: ammonium lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, propylene glycol and sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate. These are harsh industrial detergents and compounds used in shampoos because they are cheap to produce. Salon Brandicon shampoos are preferred because they are more concentrated and usually contain better, milder ingredients, but ne sure to read the labels. From a purist point of view, organic shampoos like those offered by Healthy Hair Plus are the best choice because they are free of these chemicals; but they contain herbal ingredients which may irritate sensitive skin. Also, it must be said, “organic doesn’t necessarily mean organic, so learn to read labels. It’s a difficult balancing act, this ingredient verses that one.
